Web of Stories is a website which began as an archive of video recordings of many of the great scientists of our time telling their life stories. As the number of speakers and stories grew, a web of related stories formed. After a while, we invited famous people outside the field of science to tell their life stories, too.

Now, some of these videos can be viewed on your iPhone thanks to a new Web of Stories app which allows you to watch, download and share the fascinating stories these distinguished scientists and writers have recorded.

In this app, Philip Roth tells his life story. The American writers fame rests on the frank explorations of Jewish-American life he portrays in his novels. There is a strong autobiographical element in much of what he writes, alongside social commentary and political satire. Despite often polarising critics with his frequently explicit accounts of his male protagonists physicality, Roth has received a great many prestigious literary awards which include a Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1997, and the 4th Man Booker International Prize in 2011.
